That morning in El Chaltén started at 5 a.m., with a bike ride through the darkness to reach this spot before sunrise.

I had already scouted the location the evening before, hoping for some pancake clouds at sunset—but no luck. The next morning, though, I was much luckier and was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise.
