Excursion d'une journée à l'île South Plaza avec Punta Carrión

The day begins with a short navigation to Punta Carrión at the entrance of the Itabaca Channel, where nutrient-rich currents draw plunge-diving Blue-footed Boobies, soaring Great and Magnificent Frigatebirds, and Brown Pelicans. A scenic navigation of about one hour and forty-five minutes reaches South Plaza, a small island with one of the highest concentrations of seabirds and endemic land birds in the archipelago, its vibrant red sesuvium and towering Opuntia cacti framing the trails. Darwin's finches, including Ground Finch and Cactus Finch, forage among the cacti, Swallow-tailed Gulls rest on the cliff ledges, and Nazca Boobies nest on the cliffs and coastal plateau, with Galápagos Dove, Yellow Warbler, and Galápagos Mockingbird in the dry coastal ecosystem.
