We spent a truly wonderful morning in the Bosque de Niebla, nestled near Cali, Colombia. Our original plan was to head deep into the upper reserve early in the day to track down a specific endemic bird, but nature had other ideas. Just as we were about to start our ascent, we spotted a Crimson-rumped Toucanet perfectly positioned on a perch. The morning backlight was at its absolute peak, casting a golden glow that felt almost ethereal. Despite the pressure to keep moving and stick to our itinerary, we couldn't resist the urge to pause and capture the magic unfolding right in front of us. During that brief, serendipitous window, we were graced by the presence of several stunning species. This image is the first of a series that captures that fleeting moment when we decided to let the light lead the way instead of the clock.
